    AskPhysics Blog Feed “The Philosophers who worked in search of the Philosophers’ stone and those set themselves dedicated to find the elixir of life”The works of those in search of the Philosopher’s stone didn’t go in vain, They made the beginning. The beginning itself was so wonderful that anyone who got touched by the idea […]
  • Quarks, conservation, entanglement
    AskPhysics Blog Feed Doubt from AskPhysics.comI have heard the following statements-> 1. Quarks always exist in a group of 2 or 3, and can not stand alone. 2. Protons are made up of 2 up quarks, and 1 down quark. 3. Quantum mechanics allows us to entangle a particle by somehow dividing it into 2(For […]

  • A numerical problem from motion in 1 Dimension
    AskPhysics Blog Feed A boy plays with a ball on a field surrounded by a fence which has a height of 2.5m . He kicks the ball vertically up from a height of 0.4m with a speed of 14 ms−1. (a) What is the maximum height of the ball above the fence? (b) What is […]

If gravitation suddenly stops?!

If gravitation suddenly stops …… neglecting the rotation … if someone is standing on ground ….. will the normal reaction disappear?? If yes why? I want to know when does normal reaction acts on a body? and in the absence of weight why would it disappear?

(Ahwan Abhinandan Joshi asks)

Kinetic Energy – Numerical Problem

a running man has half the kinetic energy that a boy of half his mass has.the man speed up by 1m/s and then has the same kinetic energy as the body. what were the original speeds of man and boy?

What is Eddy Current?

Eddy currents are circulating currents induced in the body of a solid conductor whenever the magnetic flux linked with it changes. It is called EDDY CURRENT because they are like eddies formed in water.

Horizontal projectile and freely falling body

A rifle at a height H aimed horizontally fires a bullet to the ground. At the same time , a bullet with the same mass in dropped from the same height. Neglecting air resistance, which one hits the ground first?Explain.

Answer:
Both will hit the ground simultaneously.
When a body is projected horizontally, its initial vertical velocity […]

What is twin paradox?

TWIN PARADOX is a paradoxical situation coming in while explaining the theory of relativity. “Time dilation” is one of the important consequences of relativity. It says that if a body is moving with relativistic speeds, time will dialate for it. That is, a duration of 1 second for him will be more than that for a person […]

A body is dropped from a tower of height 96 m. Another body is thrown up from the ground after a second with a velocity of 40 m/s.When and where they will meet?

A body is dropped from a tower of height 96 m. Another body is thrown up from the ground after a second with a velocity of 40 m/s. When and where they will meet?
SOUNDARYA asked
 Answer:
For the first body,
u=0 m/s
Let S=x (from top)
x=0.5 gt2  ————— (1)
For the second body,
u=40 m/s
a=-g
S=96-x
96-x=40 t -0.5 gt2 ———–(2)
(1) + (2) =>
96=40t
or
t=96/40 = 2.4 […]
